Sedona Lakes Developer Donates $2,000 To Epilepsy Foundation

HOUSTON, TX (Feb. 16, 2015) – Two area children are in for a summer of fun thanks to a recent donation by Landeavor, Inc., developer of Manvel’s Sedona Lakes.

The developer recently donated $2,000 to Camp Spike ‘n’ Wave, a residential summer camp approximately 90 miles northwest of Houston that is open to children and teens living with epilepsy. The donation covers the cost of two children attending a full week of camp. Considered the nation’s largest summer camp for children and teens with epilepsy, Camp Spike ‘n’ Wave is a project of Epilepsy Foundation Texas.

“Camp is a life-changing experience for a child struggling with seizures,” said Donna Stahlhut, chief executive officer of Epilepsy Foundation Texas. “Campers learn that they are not alone – that there are a host of other kids with the same condition and same problems. Friendships for a lifetime develop at camp. Equally important, campers develop independence and self-confidence while learning important information about living with epilepsy.”

Sedona Lakes resident Ryan McGuire nominated the foundation to receive the Landeavor donation during the company’s annual charitable giving initiative. Through the program, nominations were accepted from nine Landeavor communities located throughout the Southeast and Texas.

“Each year my company sponsors a number of events to raise money and awareness for the Epilepsy Foundation,” McGuire said. “Over the past five years, I’ve become familiar with the positive contributions of Camp Spike ‘n’ Wave and wanted to win the camp further support with the nomination to Landeavor.”

Buck Driggers, senior vice president, Texas, for Landeavor, welcomed the nomination.

“Being a good community partner is important to Landeavor, and handsome contributions like these is just one way we can show our support,” he said.

Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, Landeavor entered the Texas market in 2013 with its purchase of Sedona Lakes, a 535-acre master-planned community located near Highway 288 in Manvel. Since its purchase, Landeavor has invested nearly $1.5 million in the community to develop more homesites and add amenities and other community enhancements.
